The Middle East Youth Leadership Jam

Posted by shilpa on May 6, 2009 in Uncategorized |

We’re gearing up for our second ME Jam, to be held from October 19-26, in the beautiful desert of Jordan.  30 activists from around the region, who are committed to justice, balance, peace, diversity, honesty and hope, will be gathering for a week of community building, reflective dialogue and skills-sharing. We have a team of seven facilitators, two hosts, and several alumni returning from last year, to lay the foundation for another amazing and transformative experience.

We’ve already received over 25 applications, and if last year is any indication, we should be receiving many, many more, for the 20 spots we have at the Jam.  Our intention is to find a great mix of people who share a few commonalities:

- They understand, and are trying to act from, the meeting point of internal, interpersonal and systemic change.

- They are innovating and creating new ways to face challenges that are connected to the realities of their situations, in their personal lives and/or communities.

- They start from, celebrate and build on what’s positive, good, healthy, etc. in themselves and in their societies (rather than being based in reaction against what’s wrong, or what needs to be fixed).

It’s an exciting process!

If you know of any great youth leaders, under age 35, please send them our way.  You can learn more, or receive an application to apply, from our co-coordinators, Shireen and Motaz.  Contact them at
